hedgerow harvest
« on: August 31, 2009, 09:11 »
Now that autumn is here, and the hedgerows are full of berries, can I gather blackberries, elderberries, rose hips and freeze them to feed some to the hens later in the winter? I know for humans they are full of beneficial vit C, but are they beneficial to hens?

Shelled and chopped hazel nuts, squirrels permitting, would they be a useful addition to the diet during the winter?

;) Mind, apple and blackberry pie always does me the power of good!
