Hello needsomehelp.
If you don't ask, you don't learn, so no worries about "stupid questions".
Once fully harvested at the end of their season, i.e. no more flowers and pods, that's the it.  Pull up the plants and either compost or let the chickens pick them over first.

However, if you want to keep some seed for next year. leave a few pods attached to the plant and harvest when dried out.  Then dig up plant, for compost, etc.

Good luck,
cathangirl.

PS

Don't leave pods for harvest too early, or the plants will think, "Yippee, my future is secured!" and stop producing more flowers and pods earlier.

When you think the flowers are easing off is the time to leave some of the later pods for seed.

I'd say don't pull the plants up, but cut the foiliage off and compost that. Leave the roots and dig them in. As with all legumes these have nitrogen fixing nodules attached to the roots.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Broad Beans sometimes shoot again from the bottom for a small late crop after they have been cut down, that's if you don't need the space.
