Is it too late for 8" tomato plants?
« on: June 28, 2009, 15:47 »
Ive been given 6x 8" tomato plants but is it too late to plant them in the garden?
I already have 4 plants which were put out 4 weeks ago and only seem to be 18" tall with 2 trusses per plant so wont get a lot from them but would I get anything from the small plants if I planted them out?

Cheers
Nick

Theres still a good two months if not three for them to catch up, I have a few that are only diddy, and Im not worried.  With the gorgeous weather coming up Im sure Ill get some toms from them

I share that opinion. I have half a greenhouse ready to go out as quick as I can dig the allotment, if all the plants survive and I can get them in quick enough then great, if not then it makes sense of my 'to do' list for next year of which part of it is to have the ground prepared well in advance and stagger my sowing. Its all a learning curve.

I planted mine out other day and they have grown nearly an inch already. Can't say the same for my cucumbers but not having much luck with those anyway

Even if they only get one truss you will at least get some tomatoes from them. Go for it.  :)

 >:( >:( It is too cold here for us to grow tomatoes outside so I envy you lot. I have two greenhouses just to grow tomatoes.  :tongue2:
