Not necessarily, it can be very localised.  A few years back I had row of PSB that were fine at the edges and were bad in the middle.

For caulis - try Clapton - they are club root resistant.

DD, you advocated letting the plants form a decent root ball a few weeks back.

I've got mine in 5" pots, but how long do you need before the root ball is considered OK to plant out??

For me, it's when it fills a 3" pot. Your 5" will be a very decent root ball!

Thanks DD; we only have a row of 12 going in, and have just finished last year's (eventually gave away about seven pounds to creditors on the plots) and don't want to see or hear another Brussel for at least six months - even longer...

...and as advised elsewhere on the site, digging lime into the bed, then dusting the planting hole with lime as well, also may help. I've realised I have club root in a bed but the sprouts with symptoms were still about 3' tall and healthy-looking above ground

When we dug up last year's brussels last week, only a few feet away from a known trouble spot, we had roots about a foot across and I could hardly get them out of the ground, and all twelve plants had absolutely no clubroot, while just a few ft away, it was clubroot all over the place!
