It was yellow and called sulpher of something like that . Does anyone know it? and where I might get it  please thanks  audrey.

Lime helps to prevent / slow down club root. So make sure you do so appropriately.

Also, I find growing brassicas on in large tubs before planting out usually gives them enough of a head start that club root doesn't have much effect.

Like most garden problems it's easier to find ways to live with it, than try to 'cure' it.

I'd agree with the above, but would use the word "pots" rather than "tubs".

It could give the wrong idea of scale!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

There is a product available that may supress club root called Perlka, a couple of guys at our site swear by it though I've never tried it myself, it's sold as a fertilizer but has a high lime content therefore that could be the reason for resisting club root, I personaly go along with the previous messages; bring brassicas on in up to 4 or 5 inch pots to get a strong root formation, plant out in oversized holes dusted with lime and back fill with sterile soil mixed with a hand full of lime, since using this method I've lost very few brassicas. If you want to check out the Perlka option see the link below;
