Helo, not sure of this should be in the cooking section but here goes.
I think I have inherited some Sea Kale as despite trying to dig it out last year it has reappeared and it looks like sea kale. When checking how to use it mentions blanching so wanted to check if it is worth it before trying to dig it out again. Unfortunately I've planted some second earlies in the bed and concerned they will be affected???

I have it growing and it is more tender and sweet when blanched, but I eat it without blanching as well.  Think of the difference between forced and unforced rhubarb and you will have a rough idea of what to expect.  Cover it for a few weeks and you will get long pale stems as a crop.

It is quite a large plant if left to grow, so if it is near your spuds, blanching might be a good option to weaken it and keep it from taking over.

Thanks again NS, great idea there are 3 plants so I'll try blanching one but cut the others back to save the spuds this year then I'll have an idea what to do for next year. Assuming they grow again of course......
