Ants Part 2
« on: June 21, 2008, 18:00 »
Hi

Found an ants nest on our allotment last weekend - tried coffee and then we decided to disturb the next and light a bonfire on top.

First lots of parafin got a good fire going and then got it smouldering and lots of smoke.

Have checked this weekend, no ants where the nest was and none running over the broadbeans where they were most noticeable.

Hopefully we killed most of them off and rest have gone and found another home - hopefully not somewhere else on our plot.

Keeping an eye out.......

you've only got one ant's nest on your plot!

I seem to  have at least two in every bed

I just ignore them, if I have to dig them over I do, but, otherwise I leave them alone

They do encourage black fly on beans, but, I attack the black fly in this situation.
