sweetcorn advice please

Been given some sweetcorn seedlings yesetrday which are about 3" high i think there are 6 in a 5" pot. With little room in the garden at home and no lottie will these grow ok in tubs? Ive got 2 tubs abdout 24" and am wondering if 3 per tub will be ok.

i know nothing of sweetcorn and the guy who sold them to my sister (carboot) didnt know much either.

Not ideal :(

Doesn't like being transplanted :(

Needs to grow in a rectangular block so that it gets pollinated :(

mmm 3 :( doesnt look good :)

off to try and clear some space....im sure we dont need all these shrubs and flowers that we cant eat. (dont tell OH) ::)

Recommended spacing is 18".

So a block 2 x 3 for your six plants would take 36" x 18" plus border space.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Ideally sunny, but to too windy, but you need a little breeze to aid pollination. (Not fussy are we?).

You can give the plants a little shake when the pollen has formed, if you can't arrange a suitably gentle breeze at that time!!
