Sorry - Another Question - Measuring Baytril Dosage
« on: September 30, 2010, 18:33 »
I am sorry, all I seem to be doing at the moment is asking questions.  I've now got the Byatril for poor Gladys but the dosage seems really hard to work out.  How do you all measure it out?  It's the poultry Baytril (100ml bottle).  Am I being stupid here?

We used a syringe, the same size as what a diabetic would use. (OH's a nurse so could get her hands on 'new' ones), and have 'decimal' marks on them.

Can I ask, how you got your baytril?? We needed some a while back for one of our chooks.

But now, I think with a change in the weather, or worse,  :( one of our other chooks has started sneezing.

Did you have to go to your vets or were able to get it without percription somewhere else, on-line?

We had to go to the vets the first time, but now that we are a bit more knowledgable, we don't want to chew on with the vets again.  :tongue2:

Baytril being an antibiotic needs a prescription. A vet should also give you the correct syringe for the dosage (mine usually give me several at a time)  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

I got the Baytril prescription from the vets.  They did not have the poultry one in stock so wrote me a script which I then used to buy it through one of the websites that sell it.  It did work out cheaper than the vets but we still had to pay a £17.50 consultation fee at the vet.  Sadly I didn't get a syringe.  Guess I will have to try and source one from somewhere...

My local vet lets me have one or two for free. You should be able to get one from the vet or even try the doctors. They let people have them to treat kids with medicine.
