my potatotes are coming up, my broad beans are finished and other stuff will soon be harvested.

What can you grow now to 'fill the hole?'

(is it too late for second crop potatoes?)

Nearly time to start planting your winter crops. Winter radishes, claytonia (winter purslane), winter lettuces, etc. Last chance to plant autumn carrots this week and next and beetroot planting this month too. If you can find seed potato at this time of the year you could try planting some in the hopes of Christmas new potatoes but generally to get a long season of potatoes, you plant all the varieties at the same time in March/April. I just harvested my 2nd earlies and I still have early maincrop and late maincrop to harvest in another month or two.
wistfully hoping to one day be mostly organic gardener in North London.

Mrs.Novice came home with a packet of pea seeds ( cant remember the variety ) I was going to scoff at her....which I do particularly well by the way...but Old Ron up the my allotment has just bunged in the self same variety, so obviously I had to tell her I was going to but a packet myself..

Probably Kelvedon Wonder. The packet says you can plant them till the end of July. Worth a try. She is going to have a go!
Keep the plot cultivated, that's the best way to ensure its future.

I've got some heritage wanadoo peas, about 10 - 15 in the pack but I've had virtually 100% germination and good peas. I bet they would produce a crop. I'll swap em for somethin, got any unusual seeds?

I've just planted more raab and turnip, also perpetual spinach. The first planting of raab took only 30 days, even though the packet said 60. Not sure how it will do now that it is so hot, though, don't know if it's prone to bolting.
