squash plants stem bent. are they finished?
« on: May 27, 2009, 12:19 »
I have had a few squash plants stems bending, like a plastic straw.
I planted them too early and they got big indoors. Can I still salvage these plants or is it a waste of time?

thanks

If the stem is bent but not broken you should be fine. If it is broken then the plant will die quickly. If it is somewhere in between then the plant may recover, but could be susceptible to disease through the damage. Best bet is to leave and see at the moment. If you can stake the plant or protect with a windbreak then it should minimise further damage.
