In known frog/toad areas you can often see people helping then across busy roads by placing them in buckets then releasing them over the other side  :)

Im one of those people lol. I trawl up and down a lane for half a mile at a time, turning round at the end then going up again. I do it for about 90 mins stopping when I see one and quickley getting out of the car to move it. Sometimes I stop near nettles so I pop the toads on my knee and drive a bit further on to a better spot !!

Sounds idyllic but down here you'd lose your car door if you stopped and opened it.

Hundreds there yesterday, most hopping, the occasional walker too...

They've got a sign up asking people to take a little care! (The Pinetum people, not the frogs/toads).

And they call them 'Frogs', so we're back where we started!

Life is often a bit like that: "back where we started"  ;)

At a place in Scotland, we saw toads.

It rained & we saw a little hatchling toad (had a good look at him) & then loads of big toads crawling across the road.

Around those parts, it's dog walkers in the road with the occasional car.

A few years ago when I was dropping my daughter at her junior school there was a shower of tiny frogs! Never seen anything like it before although I have heard of it. We were all running round with any container we could find picking them up and taking them to a nearby pond. There must have been thousands of them.

"Shower"? They fell from the sky with the rain??
Or
"Shower" - a collection of them all over the place?

I guess you mean the second of the two.  ;) Sometimes happens I guess when the froglets' numbers haven't been reduced by predators and the weather's just right for them to hop off for food.

As a kid, in high summer, all I had to do was put on the sprinkler and frogs would spread out across the lawn looking for insects. They often made it right up towards the house from around the large pond that was at the far end of the garden.

Amazing creatures with different recognisable individual patterns and colour mixes (greens, browns and blacks).
