We get these at work, the huge ones you can only just lift.  Tracey the PA said they are paid for in advance, £6 each, then refunded, and to help myself if I want one as a cloche.

Has anybody else done this, are they useful as a sort of bell cloche?  One thing I notice is that the handle would cramp out a fair bit of growing room.

I have four on my allotment and they work really well because of the size of them. the handle is no problem whatsoever! Some people on this allotment have cut them in half so they get two smaller cloches! They are worth collecting if you can:)

I found five in my shed when I took over the allotment. I cut the bottoms off leaving a lip and these have been used as trays for pots of water cress. Both cloches and trays a great success. I would pay £6 let alone have them for free.

Right, time to introduce the spirit of Freecycle to the workplace then!

And Sal, it's actually German for garlic ... though I see your problem  :D

Yes I managed to "ahem" acquire 8 of them from work last year and they have worked fine.
Got some lovely early dwarf beans started under them in April
Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you.
But the roses are wilting, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl's empty, and so is your head.
