Looby, try to get hold of a muzzle then you'll be able to get hold of him without fear of losing a finger  :D been there at times with some of my terriers.
I am pretty certain that chicken lice can't live on dogs  :blink:

dont worry he has a muzzle the vets wont let him into the surgery unless hes wearing it hes that agressive with other dogs   :ohmy: but eveen i dont trust him with that on at times  rain or shine tomorw my dogs are under the hose  :lol:

my boxes failed miserably  :( i have to redesign . the girls went totally ape in there this morning an still manage to break the one an only egg that was laying within the tray . i had no choice but to put bak in the royal mail post boxes  :lol: the girls really love them an soon got laying .

I would say the same, chooks get very suspisious of anything new, can you leave both types in place so that they get used to seeing them, then perhaps slowly remove the post boxes, i thought they looked a good idea. :)
We have 17 chickens, 3 quail, 2 dogs, 3 cats and that's enough (for this week)

hi hun, i know i hvent got anywhere ner as muh experiance as you hve , ut my irls go ape at something new also. maybe try leaving the boxes so theyget used to them?....i think maybe its the lice and a start of a moult hun,when i spoke you said there were  few feathers in the run...give them a while to get bk on their feet hun,they will sart laying again hunny im sure :D xx

thanks grannie i blame the keyboard for that  :lol: i need to re designed the back part so that the boxes dont move forward in practice it worked but once the girls got in them they soon moved , will try again the weekend i dont want to be srcewing the boxes in place as it would make it differcult for cleaning thats why i thought slotting them under a little shelving section would work  :lol: dont worry i will work it out .

grannie i forgot to ask do u put anything in there so cover the bottom of the trays  so thier claws dont go though the holes ?
