Evil Broody Hen
« on: May 21, 2009, 19:41 »
Cookie the monster blue cochin has gone broody and evil. Put her in the garden with Vi the poorly hen and she broke into the hen house, she has put Dora off laying and now nooooooo eggs  >:( What else can i do? Don't really have time to keep chasing her about and moving chickens all day, plus she is encouraging Vi to eat my plants!! Could i sello tape holly to her bot? stop her sitting down, even if she is in the run she plonks her fat bot in the bark!!

Lol. We are used to broody hens, we just pick tem up and move them, bit grumpy for a while but fine....until the whyndotte bantam we got last year went broody a few weeks ago. Nasty nasty chicken, she tries to bite you every time you go near her. Me and hubby dread going near her.

I've got 4 broodies at the moment ::)  I find it best to keep persevering with them and keep moving them on, they get bored eventually :D

When i was a kid we had about 12 bantams and i loved them when they were broody, used to pick them up and carry them about! I don't think i have ever met one as evil as The Big Cookie Monster, i put gloves on to move her earlier. She looks like she has hackles. Hope she doesn't break into the house and get into my bed.
I'm getting bored of moving her she is so persistant. Watch this space for a new anti broody device.....spikey chicken nappy

To stop my youngsters from piling in the nest boxes and sh!tting everywhere I screwed a couple of feed bags and put them into the nest boxes. Stop the going in there.

I'm the last person to ask. I lost the battle of wills and my duck is now been sat on eggs for over a fortnight. I managed to hold out for about 10 days but she wore me down.

I am weak and ashamed.....

but about to have more ducklings and these ones won't have to be in the house!!! :D
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

Yes the spikey chicken nappy is a joke  I would not do that to her she may be evil but i still love that hen, even if its unrequited.
Please don't tell me she would make a good mum.....MW asked if I wanted any chicks.....maybe.......Ooooh  :)
Foxy, if you want to borrow her you are more than welcome!
