Easy flavoured bread recipe
« on: October 15, 2011, 15:10 »

Saw this being made on TV the other day and decided it would be a tasty recipe to try.

Lorraine Pascale's 21st century bread with ham, cheese and chive

Ingredients
425 Grams self raising flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
half a teaspoon of salt
160 Grams grated mature cheddar
6 slices honey roast ham
Half a bunch fresh chives
1 teaspoon paprika
Twist of black Pepper
1 teaspoon mustard powder
200ml of water

1.Add all of the ingredients to a large bowl, taking care to snip the ham and chives finely with some scissors, and saving 10 grams of cheddar.
2.Once all of the ingredients have been added to the bowl, stir them all together with a wooden spoon, form the dough into a ball and shapes it into a rough round loaf shape.
3.Place the dough on a lined baking tray and slash the top three times, before sprinkling the remaining 10 grams of cheddar over the top.
4.Place the dough in a preheated oven at 200 C for 35 - 45 minutes
(Less cooking time in our fan oven next time)

Very tasty! :)

Had a taste its lovely as it is, well I had to cut it open for a pic of the inside!  I could have done with leaving it to cool a bit longer  ::) ::) ::). We'll keep the rest of it back for brekky/brunch tomorrow, it'll be nice toasted with scrambled or a fried egg on top.

I haven't felt like baking in ages, but that bread looks too yummy to resist trying. Think I'll round up the ingredients today.

that looks so yummy and not having yeast in it is so perfect for me  :D. I can see me scoffing the whole loaf with a packet of butter - yum yum  :D
Staffies are softer than you think.

Today we made a pot of potato-leek soup and made the bread to go with it. Very yummy. Next time I'll add more chopped ham as I just guessed at the amount, same with the cheese. Otherwise, delicious.  thanks for the recipe  :D

I agree, it will be good with many types of soup. I can confirm it is good toasted and with an egg.  :)

We made it last into today, its all gone now though.  :D We're thinking of trying veggie variations without the ham, things like sundried tomato, caramelised onion or roasted red pepper. :)

The pack of ham used is 100 grams to remove the guesswork too. :D

Did you line the tray with greaseproof paper?
