The cabbage patch.
« on: April 20, 2019, 12:17 »
This is our first "cabbage patch", the mesh is a double mosquito net from free cycle and yes, they are a touch close together, but as has been said before "You feel you must plant all the strip". 8)
1st time (serious) cabbage growers, always failed in the past due to C.W.B. and other bugs.

Cheers,  Tony.

A bit further on from mine which are growing on a bit before braving the big wide world (the allotment plot)

I've been fixing the frame with netting all morning, a job I hate doing but find is better to do first rather the other way around.
Tell me and I,ll forget,Show me and I might
remember,Involve me and I,ll understand

Crumbs, that looks similar to an Elizabethan or an even earlier canopy bed! You don't half like lavishing attention on your cabbages!!
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

When tenderly potting on my cabbage seedlings I cast my mind back to when I was a kid ( thats a long, long time ago ) where there used to be a dozen ( long before metric)  bare root plants of cabbages tied up with string in a galvanised bucket of water outside hardware shops. These were weird and wonderful places with thing hung everywhere. Wallflowers were sold the same way

Were plants tougher then ? or has life got softer
