I planted my Elephant Garlic and Autumn Garlic at the same time in late November. My Autumn Garlic is growing well but there is no sign of my Elephant Garlic. Does it take longer to appear or could it have become damaged with all the recent rain?

You can get autumn and spring planting varieties of Elephant Garlic. If it is a variety for autumn planting, has the ground become waterlogged?

Its Autumn variety and I'm growing them one foot from my Autumn Garlic so effectively it's in the same ground. The ground isn't waterlogged be we have had a lot of rain.

Elephant Garlic takes much longer to appear than normal garlic, so do not panic yet. I have been growing EG for many years in the wet Glasgow and it always eventually appears.

Glad to hear this I put some in pots recently

I planted some big cloves saved from last years EG in late autumn along with my garlic. I also put a couple in pots in greenhouse as well as the normal garlic. The EG is just showing now and the normal garlic has been up ages. Don't worry at all.

I've known mine put in an appearance in February and then grow successfully through to harvest time in July.
