Wierd looking pheasant
« on: December 22, 2006, 18:20 »
Hello, have a small question. Today I saw a really wierd looking pheasant. It had a really long beak, and wasn't the normal colours, quite blue around the head area. I know they are normally a bit dim, but this one nearly let us pick it up. Could it be an escapee, I know some people keep the fancy types, as pets, or whatever. Any ideas???
Peas out!

meant to add .if you had mangaed to catch it you had a bird worth about £150- £200 ,and it would be able to breed with a cheaper silver amhurst  ,resulting eggs £40 each .chicks £75 hens cocks £100 approx before avian flu worries

OOOOooooo, I shall go back tomorrow, and see if it is still around, unless Mr Fox gets there first!! It was just the head end that was blue, I didn't see a ring around the neck, the beak was quite curved, much longer and pale in colour and going to a finer point than a bog standard pheasant, it looked bigger than the normal pheasants that I get on the plot. The tail was obviously long but looked like a normal pheasants tail, maybe a bit paler. If I get the * I will deffinately let you know!!!
