Ladybirds
« on: March 30, 2011, 15:57 »
I have many of them as we speak, in both my garden at home and that of our holiday home.  Do you all have them, and bearing in mind my poor vision, how can I tell if they are the friendly ones or the foe.  Thanks,  Mrs Bouquet

They are all good guys as far as the veg crops (and flowers) are concerned. :)

I've seen loads of ladybirds everywhere sunbathing!! I'm not going to try and work out which is which - they're all fine by me (and I'm sure I've read something recently that said the harlequins aren't as big a threat to our native ones as were first thought - Ill try and find it) Jude.

Well its ok by me.  Mine must have been enjoying the sun as well.  As long as some aren't hurting our native ones, they can all stay and be happy.  Thanks for your help.  Mrs Bouquet

Insect racism?  :D

Evolution and natural selection of the fittest will sort it out. :)

As a scientist once said "all species become extinct, it`s just a matter of when ". ;)

I had masses of greenfly, whitefly and ants on my overwintering lettuce and was worried as it was hearting up nicely.
Along came the ladybirds and greenfly and ants have gone!
I picked a couple today and they were clear!

This refreshing news 8!

We've got lots coming in the house at the moment, and perhaps I should have researched this much earlier! Many thanks!
