Clear Corrugated sheets or coroline???
« on: October 28, 2012, 15:39 »
Hi guys.. Im back with more questions.. I still have not put sheets up yet still not sure if i should go for pvc clear corrugated or coloured coroline which are bit pricy.. Sheets that im looking at are 0.8mm in thickness not sure if that would handle the weather.. It will have plenty of support though!

Any suggestions?

I think if the local cat decides to sit on the roof at night the chooks would be better off not seeing it. :)

Staffies are softer than you think.

It's for the walkin run.. It's 19ft by 13ft n 6 feet high.

Would the chooks be ok in the summer as the wind can come from all sides.

My walk in run has part of it covered by a tarpaulin which provides a cooler covered area and the rest is going to be having translucent 4mm correx panels to provide a lighter area but also to keep most of the rain and snow off. The sides are left as just mesh but when the snow comes I do have some spare panels to place against then to help stop the snow getting in.

Thanks joyfull.. Im thinking of corrugated all over. I'v seen some 9ft by 2.5 feet for £16.00 and they are 1.1mm thick, not sure if thats thick enough it'll have support underneath though.

I had black bituminous corrugated stuff on the roof (Wickes)  For winter I got some green tarps with eyelets from the Army Stores and lashed these neatly and securely to the back and one side, leaving one side open for fresh air.  I covered the front in winter with transparent tarp with eyelets which I got off the internet (it's for covering market stalls) Heavy duty stuff which is not cheap but the hens loved having a window on the world and being free from wind, rain and snow.  They also had a straw bale house to go in and under should they feel the need. Access to outside too of course  :)

Good luck  :)

that looks the same as my correx. My sheets (delivered yesterday) are 4mm thick and measure 2.5 x 1.25 (or 8' x 4' in old measurements). We are going to drill holes so that we can use tie-wraps to secure them together and also to tie-wrap them to the apex poles. Mine came from a supplier on ebay who sells for £10.95 each - they also sell black sheets of it if you want to have a cooler area.

The item number for these is 261111655931

thanks for ur reply joyfull. which would you recommend correx or polycarbonate. correx is cheaper than polycorbonate. what's the difference between these 2 lol

this will be my first time of using correx so cant really comment on it yet - sadly the sheets that they have sent certainly aren't 4mm so I am waiting to see what they have to say about them. They are certainly lighter than sheets of polycarbonate, which for me to install is an added bonus.

We have finally got round to starting the roof on our walk in run.  We have gone for some black coroline sheets with some clear ones to let in some light.  The weather slowed things down so hubby managed to get 2 sheets on and will be finishing it this weekend.

The coroline sheets were from B & Q and if you buy 5 or more you get 20% discount.  We bought the fixing nails off ebay as they were cheaper in larger quantities.  I think Screwfix does a good deal on the fixings as well.
