i have some hazel and an oak sapling that i intend to coppice, the oak is about 6 years old and still very small lol and the hazel about 2 years old.
does anyone how the minimum age when you can cut them off to coppice?

Hazel is an ideal wood for coppicing because of its rapid growth. I assume you are after growing your own bean poles. Leave the oak to grow into a tree as it is not suitable for coppicing and you'll see no benefit unless you plan on living to a ripe old age!!

Dont think there is any hard and fast rules I would think that three years would see a tree established . Then it would depend on what you want the wood for . just make sure you cut with a slight slope so that any water will not rot the roots.
