Raspberry canes - can I "heel" in for now?
« on: October 23, 2012, 15:41 »
Good day  :) I am expecting some canes in the next few days - but I don't yet have the space free for them on my allotment.  Can I "heel" them in - in a sort of bunch for now - if so how long before they need to be in the final place?

Wise sagacity much appreciated :)

Yes, heel them in on arrival. They can stay for quite a few months before they need to be moved. Even if they start growing, you can still move them since there's little root to them but do try to have them in place by 'official' growing season next year so they can root quickly with space and start growing for you.
