Hi, I was thinking of growing spanish onions next year (well planting the sets now for next year) but I cant seem to find any! I was wondering if thier was such a variety as "spanish onions" or is it just a name given to a sort of onion! Would appreciate some feed back. Thanks.

Spanish Onions need to be spring sown, usually from seed as they're not winter hardy.

thats probably why I cant find them then!!!!! Have you any idea on a variety to look out for?

Look for any variety with "sweet" in the name i.e. sweet spanish. Premier seeds direct on flea bay do a good selection.

I grew Sweet Spanish from Premiere Seeds this year and they were a lovely mild onion. Nice white bulbs, not large but perfectly usable.
