when you can seed after weed killer has been out down

hi

just taking over a plot and previous owner has put down weed killer over potatoes

i have dug these up and disposed off them and dug over ... when can i safely start to plant seeds again ?

You would really need to know what the weedkiller was. Some are neutralized fairly quickly on contact with the soil but others can persist for ages.

You won't be sowing seeds till next spring will you, in which case you should be OK with most modern herbicides for home use.

That's glyphosate based & becomes inactive when in contact with the soil ::)so you should be ok to sow seeds when you are ready

Glyphosphate says it is neutralised on contact with the ground, but leave a couple of weeks anyway.

Why did the previous spray?
May as well left the potatoes for you and saved the money on buying the Round-Up.

well he was giving up the plot.. he did not have the energy to dig up potatoes as he knew they would be poor...

maybe he thought it would kill the weeds and give next plot owner a head start?

He has probably done you a favour. If he was giving up the plot may have been akkowed to get full of couch grass and other nasty weeds. Very unusual but count your blessings.

The answer to your question, yes you can plant straight way.
