After thinking about this for months I finallly post about it and PING - and idea - salad tongs - the scissory ones for £1.99!   Anyone using these (for nest box picking)?
Local charity shops here I go again.

I'm thinking in terms of carefully lifting each poo from its sawdusty bed and placing it in the tray....followed by a sprinkling of fresh sawdust on top....

I use the latex gloves you get in poundland, £1 for 100. I just put one on and lift each poo away from the bedding, quick and easy!

My coop has a plastic floor so I use a plastic scraper, its actually one that you use for smoothiing wallpaper, but it gets in all the corners.. I always take out all the sawdust & replace.

just make sure you wash your hands and scrub your nails properly afterwards.
Staffies are softer than you think.

I use a doggie bag and a plastic disposable glove and pick up at the same time as picking up my dogs poops from the lawn.
I've found a really good tool for getting up the chopped straw from out of the run, which isn't a big run but my girls free range all day.
Its a short handled plastic lawn rake. The same style as the  long handled type that is used for raking leaves from lawns. I bought it from Aldi a few months ago and its brilliant. I just scoop all the chopped straw and droppings into a dustpan or shovel and straight into the bin. I tend to clean it out thoroughly about once a month and it only takes minutes.

Plastic glove in the coop, straight in the bin. There's not much.
