Gherkins

I bought some Taste of Italy seed....Cetriolo/Cucumber Piccolo Di Parigi (Gherkin).
Now I'm thinking that if I grow to 4/6" for salad they might be bitter and have very thick skin because they're supposed to be picked gherkin size?
What does the team think, please and has anyone tried growing these?
