Jasmin

Hi all.

We bought a Jasmin in a little pot from Morrisons in spring. Its now far too big for its window sill and we thought about putting it outside and letting it climb a fence.

Will it survive the winter though? Are all Jasmins hardy or are there indoor and outdoor varieties (like there are for cyclamens)?

Some are more tender than others, does it have a label that says more than just 'Jasmin'?

It may have said "morrisons" and "£1.99" but we threw that away

it may be abit late in the year to see if they have more in the shop but next year they will could you keep it inside till then till you can check the label , i did it with a fusia although i put it in the shed , said shed was too cold and draughty so we lagged the shed its quite cosy in there now .

If it had white, scented flowers, I would keep it indoors over winter. Goggle for pruning advice. If it had yellow flowers, it would be winter jasmine, though I favour the first option.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

My Jasmine plants have been out in the garden all summer, they were planted out last year, they survived last winter,(I had to plant them out, they were taking over)they thrived during the summer, but I think it maybe a bit late now, they wont have a chance to 'harden' up, the frost may kill them

All the leaves are dropping off mine at the moment, but I am not worried about them, the same thing happened last winter, then spring time (March/April) they started growing again

Maybe pruning them to a more manageable size will help until they can be planted out, but it depends when you decide to plant them out with any late frosts, so have a fleece handy until you are sure any frosts have finished

I used the soil from my hens run as a top dressing, I dunno if it was the right thing to do, but they are still with me

Other more expeirienced people maybe able to help with more advice
It's all about the journey, not the destination
