Pink fir apple potatoes

Wow what a harvest  :D

The containers were so full of potates that it was difficult to get them out!

And their blight resistance was phenomenal. At one stage they were draped by blighty leaves of vivaldi but stayed healthy.

They were a bit of an experiment this year but will definitely be in my garden next.

I grew these a couple of years ago and liked them very much.  Like you said the yield is brilliant.  But OH didn't like them as they are the 'waxy' kind, so I didn't bother again.

They weren't good in potato and leek soup though, but lovely with salads.  :)

I tried them for the first time this year, and like you, had no blight on them.

The taste is great and I will be growing them again next year.

So glad you had a good Harvest Grubbypaws!  :)  I gave mine away last year as I was unsure how they would do in containers but I may have a go next year.

Would you mind sharing more detail on size of your pots, growing medium etc?

I'm glad you're having success, I presume that is still in the airpots? I haven't grown PFA for a couple of seasons now, but I really like them too. :D

No Arugula the airpots were full of the Vivaldi and Yukon gold! I still use them ( and they look good ) but HH's potato planters are a lot cheaper than airpots and have produced higher yields.

I grew the PFA in 48L fabric planters and they got completely root bound but I watered and fed them and the yield has been spectacular!

They were grown in my home made garden compost and I added grow more each time that I banked them up

I dont think that they are meant to go in containers but if you have the ability/time to care for them you will be well rewarded  :D

Love pink fir apples - even more than my previous favourite - Belle de Fontenay (who suddenly decided they were a first early - haven't been able to get them for 2 years as was too late shoping!).

My crop wasn't huge this year - possibly not enough fertilizer, possibly planted them too late (was trying not to have a glut of potatoes all at one time!)
