Help ?
Anybody got any idea why my celery is being very slow growing this year . Last year we were eating it by now but this year it is still only about 12 inches high. The varieties are Imperial and Granada. Both self blanching. Any help would be appreciated.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't the weather been a little different this year?
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

So are mine, but then they are being smothered by the swedes next door. When will I stop cramming things in too close?

Mine too and although self blanching still very green.  The chap on the plot next to mine suggested wrapping them in newspaper and tieing them up with string to help with the blanching - might give that a go, nothing to lose.

They'll likely start to perk up with fall coming as they prefer cool weather.

Thanks for the replies folks. I guest it was probably the weather although they are supposed to like the wet being a semi bog plant. Still I went and gave them a feed of Phostrogen this morning and see if that cheers them up

Nettle Tea would have done the trick. Sounds like they need a nitrogen boost.
