Ajuga Reptans (Burgungy)
« on: August 23, 2012, 17:40 »
Has anyone groen this plant (aka Carpet Bugle)? Does it grow well in dense shade or under trees as I see it prefers a moist soil.?

I have it under trees in quite dense shade on a very damp slope.  If you can get it established it should be ok, thats what i've found anyway. :)

I like it, it looks ever so pretty en masse when it flowers

I like it, but I'm not so keen when it tries to take over the lawn  :D

Oh! Thanks for that. It sounds like it can be fairly invasive then if it pops up in your lawn.  Can it be easily controlled? Does it have the ability to creep under paving slabs and appear in a bed several feet away? We're talking about 1 plant here.

No, I don't think it's that aggressive ;) - it's not a triffid (or like bindweed)

For me it grows in dry shade as well (under a mature holly tree)
