what is the best way of sowing tiny seeds like spring onion cabbage and lettuce seeds? im quite heavy handed and cant get them spread evenly. they are all bulking instead of being in a nice line ready to be thinned

I tend to roll a pinch gently between my fingers but you could always mix them with some fin seedling compost or sand first.

You can mix them with silver sand.

I've got a length of tubing and in the end I've glued an even smaller piece of tube, (just like bicycle valve rubber if you can remember it).   I suck up one seed at a time transfer to where I want it and release the suction. 

The seed drops just where I want it, don't blow as the moisture in your breath sticks the next seed to the end of the tubing.
