I used to think that and thought I wouldn't be able to do it but caught an art show on late night TV called the joy of painting with Bob Ross, if you have sky type it in to the search function and check him out, mad as a box of frogs but makes it look simple.

I like the northern lights pictures, thanks for the suggestion and I may attempt one of them soon.

I am stuck doing another Alaskan one for somebody, got the back ground really good (it is the same place as the other one I posted but fro ma different angle, the person didn't want the trees) but I am struggling to paint an iceberg flow, with the Ice floating quite close to the front of the canvas, it is looking beyond my talents at the moment and can not find any hints or tips on line or in the library.

Maybe a break from it will be for the best and go back after doing another couple of different types of paintings.

Knitting seems to be making a big comeback and lots of younger woman are getting into it by all accounts, even my mam has started knitting again, making all kinds of funny things like building blocks for babies, knitted animals rather than the traditional  bonnets and cardies

My daughter's step-daughter (is that step-granddaughter?  ) is 21 tomorrow, so I've been busy cake-making or is that hat making

That looks totally scrummy, glad its not in my house as I would have to have a huge slice.

You can buy stamens (they come in many colours and shapes) cut them to the size you want and poke them into blobs of icing for the flower centres. Easy Peasy
