Dust extracted cardboard
« on: August 11, 2012, 21:09 »
Has anyone tried this?
It's so much cheaper than Aubiose / Hemcore (at least 50% cheaper in my area)

not tried it but doubt that it can be as absorbent as hemcore.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Their blurb states it 5x more absorbent than wood shavings. If p&p reasonable I might give it a try and let you know how it performs. I'm currently paying £10 for Aubiose.

Remember aubiose and hemcore are far more absorbant than shavings too  :).
But yes please do a trial for us it would be interesting to know the outcome. I have seen cardboard bedding for horses before but it has never been that finely chopped and this stuff looks far better  :)

That looks better than the card bedding available here, the stuff I tried was cut into squares rather than thin strips.

I agree.  matchstick like cardboard has got to be better than the squares (which is very heavy when soggy, and stinks to high heaven.

I would never use cardboard for my horses, but this looks interesting for chickens!

I'm not sure what the postage would be like on a 20kg bake - perhaps you could ask for a sample though?
