One of my 8 month old hens hasn't layed for over 6 weeks. She wasn't very well and had a course of antibiotics from the vet. She recovered and is perfectly happy and healthy again but hasn't layed an egg since. She goes into the nest box every day for 20-30 minutes, has a good shuffle round and organises the nest, does a bit of squawking and then comes out again having not layed. She shows absolutely no sign of broodiness. Can anyone advise?

Have you felt near her vent to see if there is a lump or egg there.  She might be egg bound.  I had the same with my 8 mth old Ancona  but unfortunately it is a tumour.  Other than not laying she seems perfectly normal  so we have decided to keep her and see how things develop.
