pruning walnut

pruning walnut

I have a young walnut tree it is about 12 ft high can I keep it at that high by pruning.  

or would it spoil it and stop it fruiting?

Yes well  thank you, it still does answer the question weather or not I can pune it,or the correct way if I do .

Well you might have read this already, but...

"Joy Bostock of the RHS says "Established walnuts, whether fruiting or ornamental, are best left unpruned. Where pruning is necessary it is important that the work be undertaken between mid-summer and early autumn and that the branch collar be left intact. Flush cuts that remove the branch collar are prone to decay. Hard pruning is not tolerated. Avoid pruning walnuts in late winter or early spring (January-April) as the sap rises early and the pruning cuts will bleed profusely.". "

It just goes to show the different advice you can get. I looked up on Google how to prune wallnut trees and it said to prune each year ::) very confusing :unsure:

I have a walnut tree in my yard, a big thing that's still growing and I wouldn't dream of pruning it unless specific branches were in the way of something.
