bramley apple becomong leafless
« on: July 29, 2012, 18:25 »
I know that it has been windy but ....my lawn is littered with brown leaves that have blown off my mature Bramley apple tree   :(  The tree itself is beginning to look naked. It has had scab for many years but still produced a plentiful crop. What is going on? Any one any ideas?

Mine is much the same. The remaining leaves do not look healthy. I blame the weather for everything.

our 2 large, ancient pear trees drop leaves every summer at this time, regardless of the weather (but always plenty of leaves left) - no idea why this happens, just that we have to net the bed beneath them to gather the dropped leaves and fruit

S'funny, but I have noticed the same with our old tree we inherited with the cottage.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

The tree has always had scab. Perhaps that has weakened it against this years weather onslaught.I
