Late tayties
« on: July 26, 2012, 21:06 »
Now the broad beans have finished, I decided to bang some 2nd earlys in which I had left over. Dirty gert big thick stubby purple shoots. Biggest chits I've ever seen. They have only been in  a fortnight and they are 6" high and ready to start earthing up. Makes me wonder if it's better to start 'em off later anyway.

Old bloke next to me only does 1st/2nds does 2-3 planting each season, he's putting the second lot in now.  If you can avoid blight I don't see why not.

Planting a second lot may work for 1st earlies which should take about 12weeks, this brings you to the end of October.
2nd earlies which should take about 16 weeks would not be ready before the end of November.
If the blight doesn't get you the frost may.
