Storing dried seeds
« on: July 24, 2012, 20:28 »
I have dried some peas and want to store them for use next year. They are not F1 so no problem there (am I right with this?). I have conflicting advice from lottie colleagues. Some say put in an envelope, others say line a plastic tray with newspaper. A third option is to put into a sealed glass jar and store in a cool dark place.
What should I do?
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

I store mine in a jar, but without the lid  :D

If you put the lid on and the peas are not completely dry they'll go mouldy - been there done that

So I suppose a paperbag/envelope/small cardboard box would be ok - but make sure you store them somwhere dry - deffo not the shed  ::)

I keep mine in large recycled envelopes, well labelled, standing up in my seed box on my desk
