This year i grew some onions from seed and put in a set as well.  They are pretty equal at the moment- that is they are both small!!  I'm hoping this spate of sun will bring them on.  I have spare space due to pea and parsnip failure so I am thinking of planting a set this year for autumn.

Matt... I've only ever seen sets but I have heard of seed.. sets are just so much easier...

Senshyu or Radar is what I normally do.. just depends on which is the first packet I see..

I put in some approx 40-50 sets and grew approx 100 from seeds.
They've all done very well up to now but most of the sets started going to seed(I just cut off the heads) and none of the ones planted from seeds did.
