Gardeners Delight grown indoors help
« on: July 15, 2012, 08:06 »

Can anybody take a look at these pictures and advise what the problem could be.   This is my second attempt at growing this variety on a very bright kitchen bay window which faces south in ring culture.

As before the leaves start developing white patches and the plant seems unhappy. There are signs of small fruits developing.

I'm queen of my own compost heap and I'm getting used to the smell.

Looks like leaf scorch to me, which can happen anyway under glass but is made worse by getting the leaves wet when watering, and of course by fierce sunlight (don't laugh!)

It's not clear to me from the picture whether it's being grown as a bush or a cordon (looks like something in between - Gardener's Delight is supposed to grow straight upwards from a single leader having had all its side shoots removed.)

Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

Thanks JayG, we are trying to grow it as cordon by removing the side shoots but growth is compact, the close-up photo does not show this. As the first fruit is forming I am feeding with Tomorite.

I'm sure it is leaf scorch too. Water on the leaves in direct sun acts like a mirror and directs the heat back onto the plant leaf.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
