I think we are all feeling the same. All that work and nothing much to show for it.  :(

But there is always next month..... or months..... or next year. Gardeners don't give up. Retreat, regroup, replan for next year.

What is the point next year? Well next years weather is going to be great.  :)We hope

Make and eat sticky toffee pudding and pretend that it is Autumn for the time being.

shallots nearly at an end, keep picking the flower stalks and cook them.
I started beetroot inside and transplant very carefully outside, also lettuce.
radish done in seed tray.

In 5 years of growing tomatoes I have never had any crop at all. One or two ripened on the windowsill but for all the effort, hope and later dissapointments I am beginning to wonder if it is worth it. Can't grow carrots, courgettes, beetroot, lettuce, radish........ the list goes on.  :(

Our weather is getting increasingly erratic and unpredictable. How can it get better ?

Oh Hub your glass is always half empty.  Don't you ever look on the bright side. To be a grower you always have to be optimistic.  The weather is the same for everyone

It might be easier and less stressful for you to pack it in

Climate changes happen all the time, so if this is the way our weather is going for the foreseeable future, we have to change with the times.

Find out what sort of plants other countries with similar climates grow.

And I think a lot more Councils will have to change their policies on saying some sites can't have greenhouses, because I can see more greenhouse growing in the future too.

It's not just the weather for me though. If you were in my shoes I think you would take a more realistic look.

I feel for you guys as on my plot I have not had much problems... slugs and the usual bugs and slime, but my crops are doing ok, but I do have very good free draining soil (im on top of an aggregate bed)

I wonder if we sourced our seeds from somewhere like Norway or Sweden we might have better luck?

a lot of people have had problems this year - giant slugs, poor kale, potatoes not getting to size, carrots not germinating, tomatoes and potatoes now getting blight, onions rotting so Hub you are not on your own. You just have to look around and feel happy at what has grown well for you.

However on the plus side you are not a farmer whose livelihood depends on a decent crop and if they manage to get their crops in the cost of drying them will be huge  :(.
Staffies are softer than you think.

I agree wholeheartedly about the poor farmers, at least we don't depend on our crops for an income.

And there is always next year.
The weather is always changeable. that's what weather does.
Remember the Victorian frost fairs and the mini ice ages.
Positive thinking now chaps and chapettes.
