How about loganberries?
« on: July 12, 2012, 14:23 »
I only planted my loganberry last year but it's having a very good crop this year. I've never grown or eaten them before so I'm not sure what's best to do with them. They're not bad fresh but what are they like for pies and crumbles, or for making jam? I'm also wondering if they'd be nice combined with my raspberries, either in pies or jam. Anybody tried it?

Hi There,

We have had loganberries for years and they are so versatile, they make great crumbles and pies, very good with some Bramley apples in too, they have a real nice tang to them. I always make jam every year and find they are rather good mixed with either raspberries or even redcurrants. It sets very quick and easy and I think it must be high in pectin as I never put any lemon juice with it. I made some loganberry and raspberry coulis last night and we had it poured over some vanilla ice cream mmm.........lovely. Enjoy your first crop.
