Very true Rosemary.  Kent is warm mostly,  we can occasionally have a hard winter though, but not often  :)

I'll do a scientific trial Munty.

I did one last year with peas in a gutter vs direct into the ground and the gutter ones won.  So this time:


Over wintered vs early spring sowing.  What's the earliest in spring you would sow Munty ?

end feb for me ,,,, under a cloche if needed but the thing is to have the soil in the best possible shape afore hand  :wink:

I had very good results from an early sowing this year. No any gimmicks either. So I would suggest you also take into account how much extra exercise is required to keep the crop alive.
