strawberry skins splitting

If its not bad enough most of out strawberries have rotted off as soon as they have gron due to the weather and slugs going rampant in the the damp conditions - now the strawberries which have grown cleanly and are hanging over planter edges out of reach of slugs are splitting their skins.

Possibly because they suffered in the early drought and are now swelling too rapidly in the heavy rains.

I dont suppose I can do anything about this.

Yes, it's because of too much rain. And no, there's nothing you can do about it unless they're actually in the hanging planter and can be moved under an overhang.

A good reason for growing strawberies in moveable containers as opposed to a soil bed.

I plan to do both next year so I have both ends covered.
