A friend of mine is an expert chilli grower. He just let's them grow. He has some very hot chillies.

I always let mine do as they like... always get a good supply, enough to see me through the year.  This year I let two of my last years plants just keep growing.   I watered and fed them and they produced some very good chillies, though not as many as usual, but that was to be expected.   It was only an experiment for my own curiosity.

What variety are they? Some lend themselves more to pincing out than others.

That said if they are already fruiting I'd let them do their own thing. Give them a high potash or tom feed every fortnight or so

Leave them alone, if you get down to the chili show at West Dean all the chilli plants are covered in chilli's.

It doesn't seem to cause them any problems the chillis are very good.

Leave them alone.  I grow mine in the conservatory and pinch out the growing tips when they get to to about 20cm and I get loads.  Love them :)

Chilli Focus is a product that supplies the right minerals to chilli plants.  It works well when flowers and fruit have appeared. Getting them to turn red or be hot is the next challenge.
