Getting rid of excess soil

I've recently made a growing bed out of old railway sleepers. I've also been adding lots of compost, manure, etc (heavy clay) and I now have to much soil to work with.

What's the best way of getting rid of the excess? I reckon there's at least 3 or 4 wheelbarrows worth.

How high above the top of the bed is the soil level?

Manure and compost will rot down as it decomposes so the volume will reduce naturally. If the volume isn't too extreme at present, I'd be minded to let it be.

It's a couple of inches above the sleepers, about 3 in the centre.

What are you planning on growing in it, and when?

Alternatively you could put some of it in large pots and extend your growing area for a year or two.

I'd leave it be - you will be surprised at how much the soil level will compact with rain plus rotting down of manure.

I have a pile of the same next to one of my raised beds so threw on some well rotted manure, covered it in weed supressant and have plonked a few squash in it as it seems a shame not to use it.
