Up the allotment today I noticed on one of the potato shoots there was a small green fruit growing off it which looked to be a tomato, is this what it is? And will there be many more like it?

Its the fruit a seed pod, potatoes and tomato's are related that is why the fruit look similar, open one up and it will look like a tomato inside, do not eat, some people remove them as they say it stunts the grows of the spuds but I say live is to short to worry aout losing a millimetre off the circumferance of your spuds.

I have sowed the potato seeds again this year, just for fun. The plants are now 18" tall and doing well. I have them in pots in the greenhouse so that they don't get mixed up with the regular potatoes.

You will get something eventually, or in fact you might not this season as it is so slow, but they won't be guaranteed disease free.
