Cheers for the replies - though they are adding to my questions!

Because we are growing peas too (currently about 5cm tall) and the pigeons have had all the other brassica stuff, how high should we be looking at building this net tent / tunnel?

I understand that peas are on their hit-list too but ours are still tiny. Am i better off making something way larger than currently needed, but allowing for the peas to grow (and a miraculous recovery from the cabbages and cauliflowers)? I don't even know how high pea sprouts even go?!

We have the peas by some sunflowers (currently about 25cm high) so as each develops, there's a chance we may have to take the peas out of the tent / include the sunflowers in it.

Where i live has 94 allotment plots (only about 20 are taken / actively growing anything). Ours is the only one to have suffered from the pigeons though - a few others have brassicas too, yet remain unscathed.

Not happy! We were the only ones growing everything from seed. Maybe it's sabotage and i'm unfairly blaming the pigeons (though i doubt this!)

 :D
