Raspberries

The missus is letting me use a flower bed for my growing conquests this year. I really want to try raspberries or boysenberries in it. My only worry is that its quite narrow - its 8.5 feet long, but only 18-20 inches wide (curved sleeper). Do you think it's wide enough to give it a go?

I've got a narrow strip running alongside my garage. You can barely call it a bed because it's at most a foot wide and has more stones and broken up bits of concrete in it than actual soil. But I've got loganberries, raspberries and a fan trained sweet cherry in that bed, and they're all thriving

The only problem with the bed being so narrow is that the rasps will throw out new growth

up to 3ft at least away from where they planted.

Mine have, they have moved into the rhubarb patch so I'll have to move them later in the year

I have grass paths either side of mine so any suckers regularly get their heads cut off
